Problems quitting C1

Recently, I've encountered problems quitting C1. Either the program does not respond, or it takes forever to get out of the program (1+ minute), with tons of writing to the disk. As often as not, I may not have done any further work in C1 for ten or fifteen minutes.

Has anyone else encountered this behavior? (I'm running C1 Pro 3.5.)

Re: Problems quitting C1

Nemo-I have never seen this problem. I've been using C1 for over a year and a half.
C1 saves all the changes you've made to files when you uit the app, so maybe you're making more changes than usual. The latest version (3.5.2) has new options in the preferences for saving changes durin your session.

(I'm giving the general url, as there are fora for each version and platform of C1)

You've probably either turned on "clean up previews on exit" or maybe it was already on but only now have you hit the "older than" threshold. This can take several minutes depending on the number of previews you have.

Ah so. You veddy, veddy wise glass-hoppa.

I've been working on a number of large jobs, and I think my "dump previews" is set at around 2-days. Still, the preview has over 2GB in it -- not that much. If I empty it manually, it takes about two seconds. This is really getting to be a pain. Today, quitting took over 5-minutes, and I finally tried to abort the program to which I got an "unresponsive program" message.

Turn off the cleanup on exit function. I tried it once and quickly turned it off because with over 10,000 previews it took forever just to check them. If I get tight on space I just go into preferences and force a cleanup.

Don,

I checked, and my clean up was 2-days. Moved it to 5-days, so I'll see what happens. Still, it seems crazy it would take that long to clean up and exit. I did a manual clean up of about 2.5 gigs of previews. It took about 3-seconds. Are you running 3.5.2? Is it worth upgrading?

You'll likely run into the same wall three days from now. I'd just turn it off and cleanup as needed.

I think a good part of the problem is actually Windows is really slow with directory functions when there are a large number of files in a folder. If I try to just to open my previews folder in Windows file browser ("my computer") it sits there and churns for several minutes before it displays the file list. This doesn't seem to affect C1 in normal operations as it is accessing only specific files in the folder but in order to cleanup previews it has to ask windows for a complete file list and this is where things bog down.
