Saving RAW files

When working with RAW files through Canon FVU, is it possible to save the files to a desktop folder and then work on them in RAW later?

I can't seem to set it up and am forced to work on the RAW files while connected to the CF card of the original files.

Thanks,
Chris

I copy always my card to my PC (using a simple Zio reader) and work from that directory. No problem.

Re: Saving RAW files

I am using a Mac OSX.2. So I try to save the files off the disk, which I can do, but then when I try to re-open them in FVU and change anything I get the message that I do not have model specific processing targets for the images. I notice that they are not tagged as RAW files, but rather as plain old TIFs.

Re: Saving RAW files

I'm also working in OS10.2. This is what works for me maybe it will help. 1) Create a folder in Pictures called Downloaded RAW's. 2) Create a folder with the day's date, say 4 Feb 03 in that folder. 3) Open Canon's Image Browser and click on the 4 Feb 03 folder inside Downloaded RAW's inside Pictures. 4) Connect either the camera or card reader and select the photos that I want to download into 4 Feb 03. After they are done downloading I disconnect the Camera/card reader and quit Canon's Image Browser. 5) I then open Canon's File Viewer and select the 4 Feb 03 folder. All of the images in that folder are now available for conversion. Pay particular attention to you put them. I generally will put them in a 4 Feb 03 Tiff folder. 6) After the conversion quit the File Viewer and open Photoshop. In Photoshop's Browser I open the 4 Feb 03 Tiff folder and there are all the converted tiffs. I hope this is of some help to you. There are of course a million other paths to go on from there but that's another story. best of luck

Re: Saving RAW files

Okay the Capture, FVU route is a bit circuitous, but it works! Thanks.
