Nikon Capture Error #-5000 ???

I just went to launch Nikon Capture Editor 3.5 and got this error "Error #-5000 while verifying your authorization. unknown error". I can only click "OK" and the program never starts. Same thing happens for Nikon Capture Control. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the software and got the same error. I'm running a Mac TiBook 500mhz with OS X 10.2.3 and never had this problem before. Any thoughts? Thanks.

-5000 is an AccessDenied (incorrect access verification for this file or folder)

from the apple site:

Question 8: Why do I get an error -5000 or "File or volume access denied" message?

Answer: An application may be attempting to copy a file that's located in a write-only folder. You will have to either see if it is the application not using proper read and write procedures in its activities or the folder's access privileges need to be set to read and write.

I would suspect the last...and it may even be looking for a tether or CF card pulled while still connected...that type of 'hung folder' seems to hang the prefs in several apps.
