Re: Photoshop plug-in for raw format (crw)

Noel-I rarely disagree with you; maybe we read different reports.

You wrote:"The Dell Dimension system did fairly poorly in many of the comparisons."

Rob's conclusion:"Even the Dell, a modestly equipped desktop by current standards, matches or bests the dual 1.25GHz desktop Mac in numerous benchmarks. And the recently discontinued Powerbook G4/800 trails by a significant margin throughout."

And did you notice that the other 3 machines had a gig of ram while the Dell had 512mb?

Lets treat em nicer than Chuck when the first bug comes along . Maybe Thomas wants some shooting tips. Fair trade. Imagine a world with non crappy raw software. Steve

Re: Photoshop plug-in for raw format (crw)

Who cares if the boys who started this thread are only flogging an upcoming software?
My question to all you photographers is, What do you want to see
in the new plug-in from Adobe? Not sure if Thomas is done with the plug-in
but here's your chance to give him some input.

I'd like the following things
high speed
Custom WB setting that I can save
A color picker that has choices (single, 3x3 and 5x5 px)
the ability to zoom in on a preview to check detail of processing
custom USM setting that I can save
16 bit files
batching
and if I didn't mention it SPEED

Re: Photoshop plug-in for raw format (crw)

My Xmas wish(es)
1. Peace on earth
2. Not assigning motive to posters-especially those who use their real names <g>
3. Read the manual before and during use, then ask questions.
4. Cognition that the first iteration of a software product is seldom the final work, but a work in progress - and a donation in the form of purchase is tax deductable <g>.

Did I mention world peace and read the manual? John

Mel- In addition to your list I would like:
1) info palette coupled to the cursor
2) a color sampler tool would be even better
3) ability to assign a profile
4) ability to convert from profile to color space

Oh yeah, and the ability to use while tethered to the camera!

Re: Photoshop plug-in for raw format (crw)

Charles,

I see that the Dimension did beat the powerMac in some areas but I guess the complete lack of "fastest" readings in the Dimension column is what I keyed on.

My point is that processor megahertz isn't enough alone to measure of a system's performance, but that the board design matters as well. I'd love to see a top-end Dell Precision workstation put to the test.
