What is the IEEE

The IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) is a professional association that performs many different functions including acting as a standards organization. The IEEE-SA oversees a number of standards important to the digital imaging industry including Firewire (IEEE 1394) and the various WiFi standards (IEEE 802.11g, IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11a, etc.).
