We're all anxiously awaiting the high iso testing results. If you have a chance Drew, many of us would appreciate some tests of both under & overexposed 3200 iso. (I know we never miss on exposure but just in case.) I suspect that's where any significant differences may be hiding.

Drew,

Very interesting review!!

I believe that you are a Canon user and at the end of the review it would be interesting learning about your perspective of the Nikon versus the Canon, from a Canon user’s perspective.

Cheers Drew,

I'm glad you're reviewing Nikon even though you are a Canon user.

Re: Nikon D300 Camera Interactive Review (New Autofocus King for those on a budget?)

Scott and Mark,

Yes, we made the decision to go with the D30 about 6 years ago when it first came out and have been primarily Canon ever since. However, I have worked with some of the Nikon bodies and processed many Nikon files over the years. A number of our associates used Nikon equipment. One had a D100 then a D70. Another a D2X. I'm all for letting folks use whatever tool works for them. Mixing the two files was sometimes a hassle though. Our solution was to have everyone shoot in Raw and run everything through Capture One. It proved to be a bear trying to match up skin tones and white balance at times though. Oh, and the high iso shots were tough from the Nikon equipment. Good times.

Drew
Glad to hear you're working both sides of the aisle! Interesting results that indicate improved auto focus from the D200, and rivaling the 1D MKIII. One important question though is whether or not you used VR mode to take these photos. From my experience shooting sports extensively, using the VR mode, even with the high end Nikkors such as the 300 VR and 200-400 VR, produces less accuracy than without VR. This can make a substantial difference in the results. And since VR mode isn't shown in the EXIF info, at least on older Nikon bodies, it further complicates the posting of results. Besides this, your images don't contain any EXIF info to evaluate anyway. Could you include this in the future with selected images? Thanks and looking forward to your response.
