New Leopard 4800 driver with CS3 10.0.1 problem

Epson have just released a Leopard driver v 6.11 for the 4800 printer in Leopard.

Unfortunately the prints it is producing are horrible. Overall colour tone is not far off but sort of "pastelised". Tried whole bunch of settings.

The trouble is I installed 10.0.1 a few hours before and didn't print with 10.0.1 before installing 6.11. So can't be sure which is the culprit.

I have followed the instructions about deleting printer and re-adding and deleting Photoshop prefs.

Further trouble is that I can't re-install the previous 4800 driver (v 5.6Ae I think) which I downloaded on 26th Oct and has been working fine between then and now in Leopard. After all attempts to reinstall the previous driver, 6.11 is always reported as the driver in CS3 print dialogue.

Fortunately I do most of my printing in Shiraz which is still working fine.

Anyone else having problems, or got it working right?

Thanks

Mike

Re: New Leopard 4800 driver with CS3 10.0.1 problem

CONFESSION TIME:

It's a false alarm, sorry everyone!

Mistake 1:

Assuming that because of a new OS (10.5.1), new CS3 version (10.0.1) and a new print driver (6.11) that it HAD to be a software problem. It wasn't. It was a nozzle problem.

Mistake 2:

Assuming that just installing the old print driver (which was v3.66 btw) would overwrite the newer one. Wrong. Had to run the uninstaller to get rid of the 6.11 and put 3.66 back. When 3.66 gave bad prints too I realised that it had to be something else.

Mistake 3:

Assuming that because the Shiraz print was better than the CS3 print, Shiraz was OK and it was a CS3 only problem. When I got the Shiraz reference print out it clearly was not OK.

New Driver 6.11 is fine with 10.5.1 and CS3 10.0.1

Sorry again

Mike

Info for anyone with a Epson large format printer: The Epson UK site has Leopard drivers available, which are not available on the US site.
