Yes the black is deeper with the Enhanced Matte Setting.

Yes, use the Enhanced Matte Media setting to get a better black.

Raul, if you are continuing to see scratches even with the Platen Gap increased to Wide, then there is something wrong with the printer and I would call Epson Pro support and ask for a replacement.
