Need help choosing a paper cutter

I'm fed up with my cheapie staples paper cutter/rotary cutter.

I need something GOOD to cut prints (lab prints - kodak and fuji papers). I like a rotary cutter, but am open to suggestions as what is the best tool for the job.

My labs send me complete units that I need to cut apart such as 2 5x7s, or 4 4x5s, etc. Sometimes i need to trim just a bit off a print to striaghten a non-so straight print job.

I don't need computerized, electric or high volume equipment. Just a good, solid take it out and use it 2 or 3 times a week cutter.

What should I get? What should I avoid? What do you use?

I use a bogen double rail cutter every day. Its a bit on the expensive side but its the only cutter you'll need. Well worth the extra $$.

I used to use a Staples rotary trimmer thing, but got annoyed with it. I now use a slightly better brand of Guillotine.

The thing that sold it for me was that it comes with an adjustable arm thing that lets me set the size of print I want - no more carefully matching it up to pre-printed lines on the plate, just whack it in there and pull the arm down.

I did actually get it from Staples, but it's the 'premium' brand they do there.

Very happy with it. It also has a big plate, About 13" square, so I can cut A4 exactly also.

Re: Need help choosing a paper cutter

I used Rotatrim for years. They last and last. I always had the two rail model. I would have sworn it was a Mastercut but it seems to be one of these.

A Pro Series M.

I worked in several places for Uncle Sam and these things got used and abused and they still keep on going.

Ditto on the rototrim 24". Pricey but it'll outlast me. Simple and very well made.
