But I'm too cheap to pay that much for a paper I haven't even seen a swatch of yet.

Anyone have access to a few sheets to sell? Or maybe anyone want to split a pack 12/13, $30 roughly each? That's more reasonable to me.
AtlEx is selling the EFP for $44/box in 8.5x11. I'm not sure if they have it in stock but you could call and check. I'm on my second box, bought from my local store for $54.00/box. I wouldn't recommend splitting a box, once you see the first print you'll be back for lots more....

It's a really sweet paper, great feel, nice texture and it produces absolutely gorgeous prints in both color and B&W. I print it on the E3800 and E4800 and the results are superb!

I haven't had a chance to play with the Harman F paper but some say it's very similar. No one local stocks it so the next time I order from AtlEx I'll add a box just to see for myself. Cost is comparable with the EFP, so the Harman would have to be really good to get my business.

One thing no one's mentioned yet is the PixelGenius profiles for the EFP. You could probably do better with a high-end custom profile, but given the expertise of the makers and the software and equipment they use, they'd be hard(and expensive) to beat. Kind of a bonus and the price is definitely right.....

Overall, I'm very pleased with the paper, especially on B&W. Now if they could just get the price down to the $1.25/sheet range.....

If you can make a better profile, let me know (I tried). The difference using the same profile package for the EFP (custom) and the one built for Epson are less than a deltaE of 1! But then my 3800 and the ones used to print the targets from Epson are also spot on the same behavior.

Andrew, you just talked yourself out of a sale ! You were the "high-end custom profile" maker I had in mind.....

I'm very happy with the profiles, there might be a gnat's whisker of difference in prints from my 3800 and 4800, but it's really hard to tell and the 4800's over a year old and the 3800's brand new.

Anyway, it's good to know I can save my money, that hundred bucks will buy another box of paper!

Thanx,

Bill

I don't need to make these sales, building profiles isn't a factor in my income. One reason I've never played low ball with other people who now change next to nothing for a so called quality custom profile (using god knows what hardware and software) Plus, I'd rather advise people to try the canned profiles from any manufacturer first, then if they really feel they need a custom, OK, twist my arm.

They have different print heads for one. I also have a 3800 and 4800 and prefer to use the 3800 (unless size or rolls is a factor). Its a better printer, better dither.

Re: New Paper from Epson sounds great!

To be fair and under full disclosure, I built all the profiles for Epson's EFP paper.

Re: New Paper from Epson sounds great!

All this hoopla over the new paper is great............... But at $8.00 a sheet { 17 X 22 } I will have to be very careful which prints I use that paper for. Where is the cutoff point? If a paper comes along that is better than EFP and sells for $25.00 per, will we buy it?

I hope the EFP really takes off and the price comes down substantially so I won't have $200.00 dollars sitting on the shelf in one pack of paper.
