Luminous-Landscape Tutorials

Hi All:

I'm not sure this is the correct forum for this post but here goes anyway.

I found a tutorial available for sale on the Luminous-Landscape website entitled "From Camera to Print." After watching the preview it seems to be a very professional product that would fill a lot of gaps in my understanding of how to get images to print like they appear on a monitor after post processing.

Is anyone here familiar with this product. If not, any suggestions concerning similar tutorials or books would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill

Hi Bill

I just bought and downloaded the tutorial - like you I was very impressed with the sample. I will get to view the entire tutorial over the weekend and let you know what I think.

Thanks very much, Gerry! I look forward to hearing your comments. My guess is that many of us could benefit from this tutorial.

Re: Luminous-Landscape Tutorials

I have purchased this video series as well as several others by LL. All are very good and more that worth their cost. Reichmann and Schewe are very knowledgeable, and the videos are professionally done.

This series provides a broad overview from the capture of an image to its printing. It also provides a lot of very useful tips and recommendations.

I highly recommend all of their videos.

The tutorials offered by LL are excellent value and very high quality. I was highly satisfied with the Lightroom and the printing tutorial.

Also consider sampling the video journal.

Re: Luminous-Landscape Tutorials

Very much worth it. Even if you've been at it awhile, there is still something there to learn IMO. In this tutorial series there is really no book equivalent, since they cover so much ground and so many different topics, throwing in a few secrets here and there that just aren't common knowledge. In a couple instances they correct workflow errors which are held as valid by many people. There is so much to learn, you will have to watch it in more than one or two sessions and might want to take notes. You will want to certainly review some of the sections more than once.

The only part I took some minor issue with was the very last 1/2 hour section which deals exclusively with framing prints, as my procedure differs slightly from Reichman's (signing print and framing materials). I'm being picky here though.

I also recommend the Lightroom tutorials, although in this case I also feel a book or two to get in more detailed depth is a good idea. The LR tutorials will however definitely get you up and running.

Jeff Schwe being the co-host should offer a clue as to how good these tutorials are. He's the guy mainly responsible for pushing Adobe to add the new sharpening and clarity sliders apearing in Adobe Camera RAW 4.1 and Lightroom 1.1

Re: Luminous-Landscape Tutorials

An after thought (see above reply)-

I am currently reading "The Art of Digital Fine Art Printing" by Uwe Steinmueller and Jürgen Gulbins. It is a Digital Outback E-Book ($39.95) at Booklets @Digital Outback Photo.

I prefer videos but so far this e-book has provided a lot of additional information and tips. It has also filled in some of the gaps from LL's "From Camera to Print".

Of the two, I would take "From Camera to Print".
