How I fixed the \"clog from [censored]\" in an Epson 2200

Hi Everyone,

I've been battling head clogs in my Epson 2200 for the past year or so. I can't say how many nozzle checks and head cleanings I've performed, but suffice it to say it's been a real source of aggravation and expense. Last week it finally came to pass that I could not get a good nozzle check no matter what, and in the process of multiple head cleaning cycles, things proceeded from bad to worse! So I got serious about researching the problem and as you may or may not know, this is an area rife with opinions about what to do. The use of "Windex" (i.e. just the right type of Windex!) as a cleaning agent is particularly conflicted with contrary opinions, and I was put off by claims that this could damage the print heads. I finally ordered "Epson Stylus Head Cleaning Solution" from http://www.fixyourownprinter.com. This is supposed to be the stuff Epson uses when servicing clogged heads. I don't know if that is true, but the stuff WORKED, and in fact I am surprised at just how well it worked! The nozzle checks I am getting now are the cleanest, sharpest and most saturated I can remember seeing, and my print quality is simply pristine. It is like a veil has been lifted from my prints: colors are more saturated, the dot pattern in neutral tones is almost impossible to see, grays are back to being neutral, and there is a greater amount of detail getting printed.

I have no relation to fixyourownprinter.com, other than being a satisfied customer.

Andrew

Andrew,

I can really identify with your problem. I have owned 1280s, 860s and 800s and all have clogged and clogged at the worst times. Possibly if I had been aware of what you found, things would have turned out differently. I solved my Epson clogging problems quickly and easily. Two years ago I threw the [censored] things in the trash and bought Canons. Haven't had a single clog since.

Censored? You've got to be kidding me? The FCC and the Bible both allow those words to be used.

Norm, I am glad my printer did not join yours in printer... ummm... purgatory! And glad to hear the Canons are working out for you. I will closely examine the competition when I finally have to replace my Epson, especially now that Canon and HP are coming out with pigment inksets.

To the management: I suspect you have a real opportunity in front of you (vis a vis the operating of these forums) to strengthen your social and management skills, and also to develop a more mature understanding of the concept of tolerance. Good luck, I'm rooting for you!

I suspect the censored word list was inheireted from the prior owner, and it's probably just the default ubb.threads list. It's always been a source of amusement

Don,

Actually I seem to remember using both those words in some previous posts. I have been here since 2001 and I can't ever remember seeing a censored tag. I fully agree that we have to keep it clean but...

Hi Norm,

I've been here since 2002 and definitely do remember [censored] appearing occasionally including one of my own posts. I don't recall the word I used but it surprised me because I don't normally use profanity (in posts anyway ) Do a search and you'll find a number of results, mostly the common "who gives a ----".
