| Re: Epson R2400 First Experience As it turns out, there is no Gimp driver for the R2400. But I looked into this anyway and discovered that OS X's /Library/Printers/ directory was 1.31G of printer drivers I'll never use. I trashed that, reinstalled the R2400 drivers an now the directory is 772K. It didn't have any effect on my issue, but time well spent nonetheless.
I think this problem is resolved. Looking back at what I printed a couple of days ago, the shadow detail that wasn't there is there now. Imagine my surprise ??
I discovered this while talking to a level 2 tech Epson. He confirmed that the overall saturation of the inks drops slightly after 24 hours as the ink is thoroughly absorbed into the paper. He said that generally this is not noticeable but in my case, this seems reasonable. What I was not seeing was dark detail in a even darker area. As the saturation dropped, the detail emerged. Have you ever noticed the saturation drop ? |
