8500 Print Head

I have been having a problem with a tiny white line running down the length of the entire print. Its about the thickness of a hair. I heard about some of the parts like blowing out on the print head. There is a tiny tiny white dot on the print head, It looks like a peice of dust. So I am pretty sure thats what it is. But I tried and tried to get it clean but it just wont come off. Does anyone know how much a new one would be to replace? Would I be better off buying the new 1400?
Thanks

Re: 8500 Print Head

You've got a blown pixel on the print head. It will cost you about $500. for a replacement. I think it would be better to get a 1400. I have 4 8500's and this is the first one to die.

Kelly,

Most debris on the printhead should come off with a cloth dampened with either water or isopropyl alcohol. However, since it's not, try taking your fingernail and try to remove the white dot. Does the white dot line up (side to side) with where the line is appearing in the print? If not, then the white dot you're seeing isn't the problem.

Bob
