Kodak 8500 image prep

I have just purchased an 8500, and am extremely happy with the output. I find the user guide a bit lacking, however -- 73 pages to print out (unless I was supposed to get a printed book), which could have been condensed into a much smaller number. Online help seems similarly "general". Right now, my qestion is this: should I size my images in PhotoShop for 300 (or 314) dpi? Does the printer interpolate (up and down)? Thanks.

Dave,

There is no printed manual, just the PDF ones. The printer resolution is 314 ppi. The printer driver is capable of rescaling the image if it is a different resolution. However, most people feel that you will get better results if you resize the image in Photoshop rather than letting the driver (actually Windows) do it, as Photoshop uses more sophisticated interpolation algorithms.

Re: Kodak 8500 image prep

I have seen a significant difference between an image sent to the printer at 180 DPI and one that was resampled to 314 DPI prior to printing. However, the difference is less noticeable if the file's DPI is over ~220 DPI or so...

I am very happy with prints that are at 314 DPI when printed. In general, I really like the 8500.
