Photoshop 11.0.1 Update Available

Hello everyone,

A Photoshop CS4 11.0.1 update is now available via the Help - Updates menu. It's about a hundred and a half megabytes, so it's fairly substantial.

I hope Adobe has corrected the initial CS4 release bugs.

I'm installing it as I write this, along with the Camera Raw 5.3 update, and I'll let you know how it goes.

Well, I can already say the following things are NOT fixed:

With "Open Documents as Tabs" NOT checked in the preferences, dragging an image to Photoshop causes it to open in a tab.

More as I discover it...

The update came out about a month ago.

The most significant fixes in the Photoshop CS4 11.0.1 update include the following:

A number of issues that could cause slow performance have been addressed.
Pen barrel rotation with Wacom tablets now works correctly.
Photoshop now correctly recognizes 3D textures edited by a plug-in.
The quality of the results of Auto-Blend Layers (Stack Images) has been improved.
A problem that could result in a crash when pasting formatted text has been fixed.
A crash that could result from a corrupt font no longer occurs.

Yes, it's the Windows version.

Drat, I was hoping it was new and a significant bug fix release. For some reason my auto updates haven't been running properly I guess.

Does Adobe not know that CS4 is the buggiest release that they've made in a long time, and it needs a point release to fix that?

I can't edit in the 32 bit version for very long before plugins can no longer work because memory is either used up or too fragmented. Moreover, I've lost more work because of Photoshop CS4 just quitting than in prior versions. I've had to return to a "save often" philosophy.

Sorry to hear about your Photoshop CS4 experience. THe Mac version is not nearly as buggy, but it is still the 32 bit version.

I was just wondering if the plug-ins that are giving you trouble were carried over from CS3 or new CS4 versions?

They're older plugins. Knowing what I now know about implementing plugins, my money is on the memory management processing having been changed.

Lest I give the wrong impression, it's buggier than prior versions, but still quite useful.

I'll never understand why engineers think people want tabbed editing (and browsing, etc.) I can only guess it comes from a lack of screen space.
