I've never seen that error, but I would advise you to reinstall CS3. It may have something to do with the fact that the system still thinks that CS4 should be somewhere. Installing CS3 as the last one should solve this IMHO.

Re: How change the default?

You had mentioned in another thread that you were returning Photoshop CS4 because you weren't happy with it. I don't mean to sound like the software police, but Bridge CS4 is part of the CS4 package. If you are seeking your money back for CS4 you really shouldn't be trying to keep Bridge.

In any case if you're removing Photoshop CS4 and want to go back to using CS3, I recommend a full uninstall of CS4 then a CS3 reinstall. I don't know if it's the same story on a Mac, but Photoshop CS4 touches tens of thousands of things on a PC. Uninstallers are supposed to take care of untouching those things. Just delete the files and try to struggle onward and you are asking for ongoing trouble.

Re: How change the default?

What's the big deal? Preferences remain, so they will be picked up again automatically after you reinstalled the software. If you have installed third party plugins, move them to a separate folder outside the Photoshop folder, so they will remain as well. In your Photoshop preferences, just point to this folder as your secondary plugins folder. Essentially, reinstalling is little more than double clicking the installer, fill in your serial number and wait a while.

Re: How change the default?

Thanks Johan,
I have a whole word document on what to do after a re-install, but maybe I'm making it overblown. Question: the CS3 folders does not have an "uninstall" file like I see with the CS4 folder.

Re: How change the default?

The CS3 should be in the 'Adobe Installers' folder in your 'Utilities' folder (which is in your Applications folder).
