Help w/PS 7. Comparison between 2 images.

I'm using PS 7 and is there any way to compare color from one image to another? For instance: I have taken two pictures of one bride and I need to compare the color of her gown in both images.

I appreciate your assistance.

Thank you.

Mike

Re: Help w/PS 7. Comparison between 2 images.

There are a number of ways, Mike.

One is to paste one image over the other as a second layer and blink back and forth between them by toggling the layer visibility (eyeball icon). This is most useful for quickly visually comparing images with very similar content (e.g., two successive frames).

Another way, which will give you an objective comparison, is to display the "Info" palette, then hover over the colors you want to compare. The numbers corresponding to the color under the cursor will be displayed. I find it most useful to display RGB values in the first set and HSB values in the second set. It's quite easy to compare the Hue (the 'H' part of 'HSB', which stands for Hue, Saturation, Brightness) when checking colors. To set this up do the following:

1. Choose Window - Show Info
2. Click on the little (>) menu button at the upper-right of the Info palette.
3. Choose Palette Options
4. Change the Second Color Readout to HSB color.

Now hover your cursor over various colors and watch the values change.

Hope this helps.

-Noel

Thanks Noel. What or where is the eyeball icon? (Or are you talking about the one in your head?)

Hi Mike,

Sorry, I was a bit too vague. It's to the left of the layer in the Layers palette. You'll need to have the Layers palette displayed to do the first comparison I listed above.

Photoshop is nothing if not complex.
