Photoshop CS4 Extract

In my copy of Cs the Extract is in the top of filters menu. Now I can't find it any where in CS4. Do you know how to find and use it in Cs4? I need help. I do like using curves and saturation now. The same with camera raw and opening jpegs to edit there. Go check out a site called thediditalphotographer.com some nice and different videos there.
Also how do I find color sampling in Photoshop CS4? I can't seem to find that either.

Re: Photoshop CS4 Extract

My understanding is that the extract filter isn't installed by default but can be found in the goodies folder of your CD if you want it back. The theory seems to be that you should use other tools now. Here's John Nack's post on deprecated stuff in Photoshop CS4.

I can't help you with the color sampling question.

Re: Photoshop CS4 Extract

Extract is an optional download. I'm not sure if it's also in the 'goodies' folder.

The color sampler is right underneath the crop tool, sixth from above.

Thanks Martin and Johan For your info and help.
I'm not an expert in photoshop and I have to learn allot about it. I have all the learning CDs from Total Training on Photoshop 7. Then I got Photoshop CS and now Photoshop CS4. If I didn't buy CS4 then on the next upgrade I would have to buy a full program. Now it seems I have to learn Photoshop all over again.
Thanks again
James

Re: Photoshop CS4 Extract

I got the color tool wrong I want the info pallet so I can check for color and exposer with the eye dropper on a open picture of a Photovision target.
And where on the Adobe site do you find the extract download? I did not find it there when I looked. I downloaded CS4 and did not get any goodies folder with the download of CS4. The program has crashed twice on me already. Anyone had that problem yet. I'm running Vista.

Re: Photoshop CS4 Extract

I've had CS4 quit on me a couple of times, and exhibit a few other quirks along the way. It's certainly not bug-free, but it's not bad (especially considering all the stuff they had to tweak to build it for 64 bits). There will no doubt be a bugfix version along in a while from Adobe.

Re: Photoshop CS4 Extract

Thanks Noel I'm running 32 bit system but wish I could run the 64 bit. When I bought this computer I brought home a 64 bit system and that thing flys but I could not load my older Photoshop programs on so I had to take it back for the 32 bit system I have now. I do have 3 gig of memory in this so it 's faster than my old computer.
I was just over at Kelby Training Center site and learn the right way to extract with layers and masks. So I do not need the Extract download. I had to play around with it and it's fun now or easer. I like it better than extract that was in my old CS photoshop. I am getting much better color with photoshop now that I learned a trick with lab color.
Thanks everybody for the help and I have to learn more about photoshop.
