It's a little complicated, but do-able. The commands might be a little different, since I'm about 5 versions ahead of you, but it should work.
1) Go to the channel window, where you find a red, green, blue layers. Pick the one with the most contrast between the sky and the ground, and duplicate it.
2) Select the duplicate channel, and then open the levels palate and increase the contrast until it's a pure white/black image.
3) Click on the duplicate channel, then go to Selection, and hit 'load selection', and then invert the selection.
4) Go back to the layer palate, where you should see the ground selected. Copy that selection to a new layer. Add a coloured layer under that so you can see what you're doing, and Bob's you uncle.
