I just happened by Adobe.com and I no longer see anything about "preorder" or "coming soon". All appearances are that Photoshop CS4 is available for download now. Upgrade price for the standard version is $199.00 (without promotion code).
If I haven't missed something and it really is available I'll be buying it later today.
It is available for purchase. I have read some preliminary reviews from some that have purchased the download versions already on Photo.net and Luminous Landscape.
My Creative Suite upgrade was not available for purchase as a download. My account was charged for the purchase on October 15th and was told that
I should receive the product in about seven days.
Since I already purchased the Creative Suite CS3.3 upgrade in June, the upgrade to CS4 cost me $374. (with 15% discount for being an NAPP member).
The preorder code seems to have expired. Still looking for one that works...
By the way, rumor is Adobe is not officially supporting XP x64, but only Vista x64 with their 64 bit variant. Has anyone else heard this? I guess I picked the right time to build a Vista x64 workstation.
NAPP had to discontinue the use of a generic discount code because it had been exploited by members giving it out on forums like this. October 14th was the last day the old code was valid.
They are now in the process of developing individual, time limited codes for each member that requests one.
There are other professional organizations that also offer members discount codes for Adobe products.

I have also read that XP 64bit will not be supported. Photoshop CS4 for Windows will ship with both 32bit and 64bit on the install disk. If you are running Vista 64bit with CS4 64bit, your third party plug-ins will all need updating as the old versions will not be compatible.
