They have one, it's called the Mac!

I've been running Vista64 bit on my MacBook Pro for three months now. It is very fast and surprisingly stable.

Fastest Vista notebook is a Mac - The INQUIRER

I'm glad you like the performance you're getting. The modern Macs are indeed very fast.

I have the oppotunity to run various different OSs side by side as virtual machines owing to some development work I'm doing, and Vista's an absolute slug compared to XP. A basic, lean XP Pro system runs less than 10 processes in under 100 MB. By contrast Vista Business requires 40+ processes and a full gigabyte just to boot up. To say that it's "resource hungry" is an understatement.

Re: 64-bit support and Photoshop CS4

I have not tried Vista 32 bit but have heard the complaints about the sluggishness. I did wait until SP1 was released before I tried Vista 64.

I have read about a big performance difference between the two versions. With the 64 bit version able to use up to 128 gigs of ram, I can understand why.

Re: 64-bit support and Photoshop CS4

That's good news. I will have to try it native on my machine somehow before committing to upgrade. The 32 bit version I've been running in a VM really chews on the processors.

Re: 64-bit support and Photoshop CS4

A fairly extensive, four-part article on 64-bit computing as it applies to both Mac and Windows has now been published. I recommend it for anyone who wants to learn more—at a layman’s level—about the 64-bit question.

My new machine runs Vista Business fabulously well. Problem is the human intervention.

I've decided that learning to get Vista to look like I want in Classic mode is humanly impossible.

BTW, Microsoft today announced they're spending 300 million to counteract Apple's TV ads.

Oh, so you've noticed the trend away from having room to actually work and increase in the useless "chrome".

I'm like you, Doug - I like Classic mode.
