Elements 6 (Mac) + Aperture 2

Please advise. I am planning to get Photoshop Elements 6 (Mac).
If I do - what benefit might I find in also getting Aperture 2?
Photography is only a very small part of my work and I do not deal in high volumes of material - a maximum of 400 shots at a time at most.

Unless you tell me a whole lot more about why you're considering either of them, there's not much I can say! Volume aside, it just isn't clear what you need to do with your photography.

Re: Elements 6 (Mac) + Aperture 2

Simon, I think you have it backwards. (sorry)

People normally use Aperture (or Lightroom) as their primary interface to their photos. They use it to import, develop and fine tune the images ready for export or printing. When they strike an image that needs more than what Aperture can do, they take it to Photoshop to make those changes.

So if you are fixed on starting the process with Photoshop, you probably don't need Aperture.

I haven't checked recently, but I believe there is a free 30 day trial of both Aperture and Lightroom, Maybe it would be a good idea to try them while you wait for Adobe to release Elements 6 for Mac?

Mike.

Re: Elements 6 (Mac) + Aperture 2

Thank you Mike. I am used to starting and finishing the process with Photoshop Elements 3 on my Emac. I have been waiting for Elements 6 (Mac) to appear before upgrading to the top Imac. I went to a Canon/Apple demo of Aperture last year and was impressed with the apparent speed and flexibility in reviewing, sorting, tagging etc photos but it appeared to me that I might get much of what I am looking for from the combination of Elements 6 and a higher spec Mac. It was useful to learn I had got my question backwards. I am fixed on starting the process on Elements which is out any day now. Thanks again.
