CS3 High quality thumbnail question -- why screwed up?

I work on some images, and the High quality thumbnails are now low quality. Which is fine except the generate HQ thumbnails is grayed out in edit menu so I cannot see ever again these with good thumbnails, unless someone comes to rescue! thanks.

Bridge in CS3 is temperamental regarding thumbnails and previews. LOTS about it on the Adobe user to user forums.

Your only option is to delete the cache and let it build the thumbnails and previews again. You can do this from the tools menu or by launching Bridge with alt/option held down. Deleting the prefs may be necessary too.

Mike, that's insane. folder of 1000 images and 50 have no previews now, and rebuild is grayed out. and need to delete cache? Where do you do that anyway? I thought CS3 was beyond all that cache nightmare stuff. thanks for helping.
