RGB to CMYK

What kind of setting i have to use to obtain good CMYK colors from an RGB picture using photoshop to make the conversion?
Or where can i find the colour tables and settings to do it?

Re: RGB to CMYK

Massimo,

Since every printing press has unique settings, and every press operator is different, you're best to stick with the canned Photoshop CMYK profiles. If you know exactly which press will be used to reproduce your images and what paper ink combination they'll be using, then you can perhaps get detailed conversion settings from the print shop or publishing house. Some will provide such information, some will not.

The canned Photoshop CMYK profiles do very well for general work, however, so don't be afraid to use them if they are all you have.

Chuck

Dan Margulis's book "Professional Photoshop: The Classic Guide to Color Correction" is a must read for anyone delving into CMYK work.

massimo, the printing and prepress industry in europe is more and more using fogra data as reference (iso12647-2) for offset printing, so the adobe euro fogra cmyk profile or the fogra based eci profiles http://www.eci.org/eci/en/041_offset.php are a good choice.
