Contact info...where do I put it

Is there a way to populate the IPTC contact field with my address and other contact info? What is the "JOB" button for on the Ingest box? When I add info here, I don't see it in the File Info for the file when I open it in PS. Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure what you mean by IPTC contact field? There is no such named field in our IPTC dialogs. But yes, you can automate the insertion of your contact information into images via the IPTC Stationery Pad which can be applied during Ingest or later with the IPTC Stationery Pad via an open Contact Sheet.

In order to insert your information, you should first fill out the User/Client variables dialog with your contact information. You can access this dialog by pressing the Job... button in the Ingest dialog, or from the Edit menu in the menubar. If you need different sets of contact information you may save and retrieve them via the snapshot button (looks like a lightning bolt).

Once you have your contact information filled in, then you use our Image Variables to expand their values into whatever fields you want to in the IPTC Stationery Pad dialog. If you open up the IPTC Stationery Pad dialog, you'll see a button titled Variables... which will show you all of the variables. When you click on a variable its description will be displayed at the top of the Variables panel. Down towards the bottom of the list are the User/Client variables. Use the ones you want by double-clicking on them. The IPTC Stationery Pad field that last had the cursor in it will receive the variables that you double-click on. To apply that field when applying the IPTC Stationery, make sure that the checkbox to the left of the field is checked.

Once you have everything set the way you want it, you can apply the stationery to the selected photos (or just close the dialog and let it get applied during Ingest.)

HTH,

-Kirk

Re: Contact info...where do I put it

Hi,

I think Gary is asking about the contact information fields defined in the IPTC Core metadata standard (IPTC4XMP). These fields are viewable in Photoshop but you can't fill them in using PM. I suggested in my previous post that, as an interim measure, PM provide the option of filling in these fields from the user info which can be specified in PM with Edit>Set User/Client Variables...

Roy

Re: Contact info...where do I put it

When I go to File Info in PS there is a category called IPTC Contact along with Description, Camera Data 1 and 2 and others. This is where the creator's address, phone, email etc shows up.

When I go to PM, I don't see an appropriate field in the IPTC Stationery Pad. Where would I put the Variable for address, email, etc so that they show up in the correct place in PS?

I could do this all in PS with a template, but would prefer to it on ingest.

Thanks for your help.

You cannot currently do this, but we were thinking of making it an option to automatically place this information into the XMP data for you (as long as the values in the dialog are filled in.)

Re: Contact info...where do I put it

Gary,
I use PM proofs that I send out to my customers. I place the contact information in the 'caption', 'Headline' or 'Special Instructions". It remains there for everything. John
