Just started using PM 4.3 and have had a couple of issues where files, both j-pegs and RAW, have become what PM calls "Unknown" these files, which were fine in ver 4.2.1, now show up as just a black picture in the browser. At the bottom left of the screen where the total no of files in a particular contact sheet are given it will say, for example, 0+150=150 total - 5 unknown.
Anybody else experienced this/know the cure...

We now count up all of the files that PM does not understand and call them "unknown". We just used to never report that information. Things like text files or Word documents would fit into this category.
For the files that showed up as black, what are their file types and can you open them up in a different application like Photoshop? If we determine that a file type is loadable by PM and then have an error while loading it, then it will appear black in the thumbnail view and in the Preview window.

I'll chime in here and say that a few times I've had Canon 1Ds raw files show up as black thumbnails, and as black previews. Then, it's not all of the raw files in the folder. Also, if the raw and jpg files are joined, the thumbnail is black. When I unjoined the files, only the raw files were black and the jpgs showed up both as thumbnails and in the preview.
There does not seem to be anything wrong with the files. In fact, when I exit PM and restart, the thumbnails are okay. This has happend to me about three times since downloading 4.3, and I haven't really notice that it's related to anything yet, or even related to a particular folder of files since it happend in different folders each time.

I am having similar problems, but with blank previews, not black ones. Also, it seems that PM will happily display images that have been brought into my hard drive with the camera tethered (using Canon DPP software) but will NOT display similar images (1Ds cr2 files) that were imported via Downloader Pro onto the same hard drive. With the Downloader Pro images, I just get blank previews with only the file names visible. However, the images are fine and can be viewed with Breeze Browser and Capture One.
Perhaps PM is allergic to something that Downloader Pro does, like the way it saves IPTC info or renames or something?
