Copyright

Greetings All,

I've written a piece on copyright on my blog:
photo this & that: So, What's This Copyright Thing Then?
I'd really appreciate if you could circulate this to anyone who will benefit. Its disgusting how our industry's going and we need to educate younger and less experienced photographers on this issue.

Many Thanks,

Edmond

Re: Copyright

Nice post, Edmond.

I think everybody in this sphere should also be aware of Creative Commons, which is a serious attempt to dramatically lower the fear, uncertainty and doubt about copyrights for content creators, and do so properly and internationally. Even if you ultimately determine that the Creative Commons' licenses are not for you, you may find the information on their web site illuminating.

Re: Copyright

There is no international copyright law. The closest we have is a treaty called the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works.

For the United States, the US Copyright Office is still the best source of information.

Re: Copyright

This thread brings up an interesting question on copyright. anyone know what the procedure in Canada is?

Would the Creative Common be legal here?

Thanks!

Jeff
