Batterie charger and forgein country

I guess this is the best place to ask this question, since you guys travel a lot for doing you job [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

I have a D200 that I have bought in Canada my charger use 120Volts outlet to charge batteries. I'm planning to travel to central America and south America in the next year (Guatemala, Bolivia, Chili, Argentina, Costa Rica) At some point I'll have to charge batteries...

1) Will my D200 charger work with 220V. can it damage the batteries?

2) Where can I get good converter (compact)?

3) Any other tips related to "backpacking adventure " photography are welcome...(avoiding theft, unloading chips, etc...)

Look at the charging brick, and it will tell you what voltages the charger will accept. Most will accept anything from 100 to 250 Volts, so you shouldn't have a problem. All you have to do is change the charger cord to one with a European (or whatever) plug, the part that plugs into the brick is universal.

You are correct! I just did not look careful enough... shame on me. the charger accept 100-240V 50-60Hz 0,25 A. Now where can I get one of those funky cord? or maybe I should get a converter and that is it...

Also since I'll will be backpacking, I was thinking about cutting the power cord so it is about 1 foot long (I want to be light!)Any Idea if this is dangerous?(Will the Amps be increased since I have less wire to offer resistance?)

No converter needed, just buy an inexpensive adapter plug that will fit in the socket. Place I always recommend for travel gear is Magellan's, online at www.magellans.com. Click on the link for phone and electrical connectivity.
