Anybody shoot elections in Ohio?

There's a rabid blog thread that's gathering steam about a supposed "media lockdown" on voting problems in Ohio. I'm guessing it's probably just blogger noise, but I thought I'd ask if anyone working Ohio elections saw anything weird (either in the field or from the editor's desk).

I worked Kentucky elections and saw nothing out of the ordinary aside from really good voter turnout. I also was told to report ANY voting irregularities to the edit desk immediately, which goes against the blogger paranoia mentioned above. But then again, Kentucky wasn't ever considered a battleground state...

Re: Anybody shoot elections in Ohio?

There are verified allegations that the count in Ohio was rigged. In Warren County the media was excluded from observing the counting procedures. The explanation given by the County Attorney was that there was an alert to them by Dept. of Homeland Security that there might be problems and that the exclusion of the media was out of concern. In another county with only 600 residents, the vote count was over 8000; I don't know what county that was, but it was reported on the Keith Oberman Show. Incidently, the vast majority of the over-votes were for Republican.

There are also allegations that in Florida over 92,000 votes were thrown out.

Cei la vie.

Even with the wider latitude of discussion permitted in this and the other photography segment topic areas, this thread is too far removed from the actual practice of photojournalism, ie the taking of pictures and the business of taking pictures in an editorial setting, to be allowed to continue.
