Hi Orwell,

Not everyone uses flash, and certainly not all the time. Its a matter of personal technique. I use flash probably 70% of the time. Most of this time I'll use it as a fill in and use the available light as the main light.
You'd get more answers as to which flash you should get from the Nikon forum.

The dTTL on the D1 series cameras leaves a lot to be desired. If you have a Metz flash, you'll probably be alright to use it in the 'A' setting for most tasks. If that's not adequet, see about getting a SD80DX flash on e-Bay, or somewhere.

A flash is an important thing for a photographer, you often have to fill flash in bright light, or use it a main light in dark situations. You really have to have a good handle on it.

thanx, i m so allergic to flash use that i didnt evalutate that i need fill in flash in bright light situation

yes i know D1 has bad TTL so i ll not buy for now a nikon flash

it work good in A the fill in flash mode with metz?if i shoot in F 2.8 i put flash on F2 or more iso in A mode right?

some pros say that METZ light is unique, you can see it in 1000 lamp flash, and for a lot of people is the best flash.....

for now i ll use it, ill try

when i ll upgrade nikon camera wiht one that support TTL good i ll buy a good TTL flas:-)

thanx
