Is there a photo bag that doesn\'t say \"Steal Me\"

I don't want to start another thread about roomy gear bags, but I would like some suggestions about bags that don't look like photo bags. I will be overseas for the month of November, and I would like to find a bag that I can work out of that can hold two bodies and a pair of lenses and flash simply and quietly without excess padding and without looking like anything other than a bookbag. In the past I have just used bookbags... And my gear still has scars from being poorly packed. I could just take some excess dividers out of a real bag and tape them into a cheap bookbag, but I would prefer an off the shelf solution if there is one.

Re: Is there a photo bag that doesn\'t say \"Steal Me\"

Having had a camera stolen from a smart black bag at London ThiefRow Airport I now travel with a Nomad bag that I sourced over here from Travelling Light. It is brown canvas and makes me look like a hiker.

Not much by way of protection against being dropped, but there is nothing to stop you wrapping your photogear in something resiliant.

Protection

Also, for padding, buy wraps. Domke used to make them but when I went to purchase them a couple of weeks ago, they were not available. So, I went with R.A.P.S. (Roadwired Advanced Protection System) which are not only padded but they also supposedly prevent corrosion.

Buy the bag that you want for looks and size. Then convert it with wraps and padding (this may require some sewing to get padding to stay.

Re: Is there a photo bag that doesn\'t say \"Steal Me\"

The Lowe Stealth AW bag looks like a large black backpack that a student might carry on campus. It holds two bodies, 3 lenses, and a computer, with room left over for other gear. It's harder to work out of, since the cameras and lenses are stored separately, but you have to give up something for it not to look like a camera bag <grin>. It supposedly fits carry-on requirements, but like any soft bag, you can over-stuff it.

Hi Eric,

You could look at the Crumpler bags. They look more like courrier bags than anything else!
Also, you could get a normal canvas bad like Tony's, and then buy a Billingham Hadley insert and put it inside.
