Eddie Adams - a personal tribute

Just posting here to share my sadness and offer condolences about Eddie's death.

I heard recently that he was suffering from ALS and knew that his time was short.

I attended Barnstorm IX as a student and returned to Barnstorm XIII as a member of the Black Team. Many hours were spent around Eddie both as a student and again as a student (although on the Black Team).

Some personal memories are talking about his MG's at the farm, trying to get his damn golf cart to start, and photographing him for the Barnstorm XIII slide show. What a hoot! I got his book at the Barnstorm XIII workshop and asked him to sign it. He answered by saying, "I wouldn't sign that damn thing even if it is mine". I still have it wrapped in plastic. Thinking back maybe I should have had him sign it anyway. His personally written thank-you card from helping at Barnstorm is one of my most prized possesions. A gentleman to the end.

Just thinking that there are more than likely a few that visit this site that have been influenced by Eddie. Feel free to share any experiences, etc... I know I'm not the only one.

A Big thanks to Eddie and the workshop he created. It influenced me (and will continue to do so for the rest of my life), and made me the photographer I am to day.

Rest in peace Eddie.

Re: Eddie Adams - a personal tribute

I showed up to Workshop VII on my birthday. It was quite an intense weekend and I made a number of friends that I still have today. Each of our careers has now taken its own path and I enjoy a smile every time I see a former classmate's photo credit in a magazine or newspaper. The cameraderie from that experience was amazing.

Sorry, I never heard of Eddie Adams. Do you have a link where I can find out more about him and his career?
