PPE Conference Sessions: (these sessions require a fee to attend)
Seth Resnick - Digital Workflow Live
Date/Time: Friday, Nov 3 09:00 AM - 11:00 AM Session ID: FA10
In this new presentation, Seth Resnick will demonstrate his entire workflow in live time. He will begin with RAW files and adjust them for white balance and tonal corrections. Then he will create custom metadata templates with full IPTC information and keywording. The files will be ranked, organized and renamed using methods that comply with all international standards. Finally, using scripting and advanced actions, the images will be processed in live time, according to a range of needs—the submission guidelines of a stock agency, the black-and-white needs of a client, a series of images for the Web and a series of high res files for archiving purposes. Handouts will be available for download after the session.
Seth Resnick - Demystifying Digital
Date/Time: Saturday, Nov 4 01:00 PM - 03:00 PM Session ID: SB10
Many photographers mistakenly assume that the switch to digital simply means changing equipment and using a digital camera instead of film. This lecture will focus on digital capture, file prep and delivery. The topics for discussion include: RAW vs. jpg, color space, white balance, understanding histograms, interpolation, digital exposure vs. film, digital problems and answers, sharpening, metadata, archiving and digital negative (DNG) format. Handouts will be available for download after the session.

Date/Time: Thursday, Nov 2 09:00 AM - 12:00 PM Session ID: TA10

Several leading RAW converters will demonstrate how they process a series of identical RAW files all the way to output on an Epson 4800 printer. Two leading photographers— a Canon shooter and a Nikon shooter—will supply a series of RAW files. A representative of each RAW converter manufacturer will have 15 minutes to process the images, with feedback from the photographers. See results in real-time and join in the critique.

Date/Time: Friday, Nov 3 09:00 AM - 12:00 PM Session ID: FA9
How does Adobe Photoshop CS work with color images and color profiles? This session will explain how Photoshop can be easily configured to produce accurate previews of digital files and how to achieve accurate and predictable output. Handouts will be provided.
Andrew Rodney - From Digital Capture to 4Color Output
Date/Time: Saturday, Nov 4 01:00 PM - 03:00 PM Session ID: SB8
This seminar looks at the workflow techniques best suited to handle images from professional digital cameras and prepare them for output to print. Explore whether you should capture data as RAW and if so, how you should handle color profiles and RAW conversions. Rodney will take an image from RAW capture to CMYK output ready for press, and will show you the tools and techniques required to produce the best image quality. Topics covered include: when and how to effectively sharpen images for maximum quality and flexibility, necessary steps to ensure the best CMYK conversions for your clients and best practices to achieve accurate color.
