I think you answered exactly what I was asking. I'm not locked down to exact colors either. We need to remember that we each see different qualities in a scene and sometimes we want to show them to best effect. I generally stop short of adding colours that aren't there to begin with, (like colorising something from brown to green) but that isn't the same as giving what is there a bit of a boost.

Buddy, nice shots. The lake looks quite milky!

You took gorgeous photographs of Lake Louise. Most people either get the glacier well exposed or the sides of the mountains, but rarely both.
