I cranked up the background because I wanted to try and emulate the shot that is on the cover of the latest Rocky Mountain School of Photography Catalog (with the daisy in the glass). I liked the look of the glass and how it kind of disappeared into the background. I know the throat of my vase was too narrow to completely get this effect. But I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Curtis the background (on my HD monitor) is way too bright and starts to wash some of the flower colors out,, any chance of cutting the side lamp down say 50% and see how that brings out the color and detail of the flowers,,??

As for the very bright background in your photos, Curtis, I like it, especially how it works with the borders of the petals. Goo' ole high-key photo.
