Voting is Now Open for The May 2009 Photo Contest

This month's theme is: Spring (the season)

A symbol of birth, the start of the growing season, Spring is celebrated many ways by different cultures.

Images must be submitted by May 15, 2009 @ 9:00PM (GMT -5).

The winner receives his/her choice of The COLORRIGHT white balance tool, a Lifetime Membership or 1000 Reputation Points.

Please just upload photos with any personal comments to the gallery. Please do not reply with comments on the images until the contest is closed.

All registered full members may participate. "Basic Members" are not eligible to participate.

After submissions are complete, a poll will be added to the thread. All members may vote for their favorite image. Voting will stay open for 1 week.

Please only post one image per contest per month. Existing winners may continue to post each month. In the event of a tie there will be a runoff vote to determine the winner.

Images may include Photoshop work.

For jpeg attachments max size is approximately 200k. Max Width and Height are 800 pixels. However, I do believe it will resize the image automatically if it falls outside of the width and height range.

Springtime brings out many species of birds in bright breeding plumage, and this is my favorite time to photograph them. My May contest entry is this image of a great egret male, bringing a stick to the female waiting in the nest. Photographed in St. Augustine, Florida.

Shot details: Canon 1D2N, 100-400L lens at 350mm, manual exposure 1/2500 at f6.3, iso 400 in natural light.
