Mike, the photo contest began as a monthly offering where paid members would submit photos in accordance with an established theme and time frame. After the submission deadline, the photos were presented to the viewing public with a poll for voting. After ample time was given for voting a winner would be declared and a prize awarded. The previous forum owner Drew originally ran the contest and when he no longer had the time to do it, I volunteered to take it on. Drew would give the winner their choice of a lifetime membership or his ColorRight white balancing product. In the case of a tie, a tiebreaker vote was held, requiring yet another poll.
To avoid any suggestion of cultural or global bias, suggestions for the monthly theme were taken from the membership and yet another poll was utilized to choose the theme. This procedure became very time consuming and the contest was changed to quarterly, then phased out as interest in both the contest and forum dwindled.
