The September 2008 Photo Contest is Open for Entries!

The Theme for the September 2008 Photo Contest is "Macro".

Images must be submitted by September 14, 2008 @ 6:00PM (GMT -4).

The winner receives his/her choice of The COLORRIGHT white balance tool, a Lifetime Membership or 1000 Reputation Points.

Please just upload photos with any personal comments to the gallery. Please do not reply with comments on the images until the contest is closed.

All registered full members may participate.

After submissions are complete, a poll will be added to the thread. All members may vote for their favorite image. Voting will stay open for 1 WEEK.

Please only post one image per contest per month. Existing winners may continue to post each month. In the event of a tie there will be a runoff vote to determine the winner.

Images may include Photoshop work.

For jpeg attachments max size is approximately 200k. Max Width and Height are 800 pixels. However, I do believe it will resize the image automatically if it falls outside of the width and height range.

This view, from right to left, corresponds to about 3/4 of an inch in the real world--A bee's-eye view of early morning water droplets on a shrub called Cuphea hyssopifolia, a.k.a. "False Heather" or "Mexican Heather". (Full-wide blossoms are only about 1/4 inch across.)

The Moment of Impact. Water droplet colliding with the surface of a pool of water. This image only happens for somewhere in between a 1/1,000th and 10,000th sec. Even with precision timing equipment and much experience photographing droplets, it took several hours.

Canon 1ds Mark II with 70-200 w/2x and many extention tubes. Vivitar flash connected to the Time Machine with an IR beam trigger.

I caught a glimpse of the light hitting this guy when outside eating breakfast one recent summer morning ran for the camera and was captured with a Canon MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1-5x Macro and a Mark III 1Ds...it does not get much more macro than this lens.
