Bird Photo Processing Challenge

Let's have a little fun... I've posted two different raw datasets - photos of birds taken with my Canon EOS-40D and 100-400 zoom lens.

The challenge is this: Make one or both into an image that feels 3D and real and at the same time celebrates the beauty of the animals and scenery. Post your results in this thread at at least 800 pixels in the long dimension, up to as large as you like. Spend as much or little time as you like. Above all: Have fun!

If you have a few extra moments, type up a summary of what you did. Or not - your choice. It's not required.

And feel free to comment on images posted herein.

How good you can make these look?

Right-click and choose Save Target As...

Noel,

Both "failed to load". Is it me or link?

You have to follow the instructions, Ron, right-click and save it, then open it in PS, then it works. None of my viewers could open it directly, don't know why.

Got it. Never was good at reading or following instructions. Thanks Dennis.

Re: Bird Photo Processing Challenge

Thanks for helping out with Ron's question, Dennis.

By the way, the freeware program Irfan View can view Canon .CR2 images (amongst other raw formats) by extracting the embedded JPEG. When I click on the above links the image previews open right up in Irfan View.

IrfanView - Official Homepage - one of the most popular viewers worldwide

Re: Bird Photo Processing Challenge

My default viewer is the MS RAW Image Viewer, and it is only on version 1.0 and doesn't support the 40D. I think that's why I couldn't open it for viewing, but it opens fine in PS.
