Well, if you can only get reputation points through the photo contests, then it should work ok. I think the users giving reputation points to each other gets old pretty fast, so don't turn that on if you can avoid it...

For starters, it gets hard to dream up new themes after a while without them getting repetitive, and it won't work for all users who might enter something in an open contest, but who might not have time to take a theme shot.

I mentioned a theme thinking it would be in addition to a general category.

The theme could be something as general as the color green, or the shape of a circle. I am not a wedding/portrait photographer and always felt that category left out quite a few people.

Theme based contests tend to spark creativity and get people to actually go out and take new pictures, rather than rely on old stock.

I'll also look into turning back on the reputation system but only allowing administrators the ability to add or remove reputation. I believe it can be done. I'll have to check.
