Skin Tones - Can You Illustrate?

I have heard in a number of places now that the new Fuji S5 "does a better job with skin tones" than other camera models.

This is a simple concept, but I'm having some difficulty understanding precisely what is meant.

I can easily see that if you are trying to plow through many images quickly to make a buck, that what the camera delivers consistently without 'shopping is important. However, I've had virtially no trouble myself getting "good skin tones" in my imagery with my Canon gear. I suspect there are those with similar thoughts and Nikon gear.

So... Seeing is understanding. Do you have examples of skin tones "done poorly" with one or another camera, vs. those "done well" with the S5? I'd honestly like to see the reality of this.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Skin Tones - Can You Illustrate?

i dont have examples, but it seems it is all in raw file processing, i recently had a breakthrough for getting better color in general.

i would assume its more in the lighting too.

once i get used to the 'color balance' of the camera and its tendancies to interprete colors, i can correct it preatty fast.

the only color differences i have seen is between my canon's and my phase one back, the back being more accurate esp. for neutrality, the canon being warmer, esp. wanting to saturate reds alot.

and i started digital photography with a d1x, and i think it was preatty good color out of the box, about in the same ball park as canon, probably didnt have the same color tendancies as canon.

Doug, I hear you just shot a wedding. Can you put up a few S5 images (or crops) please? I'd love to see some actual examples of the image quality from this highly touted model.
