Same here-I'm surpised about the lack of posts about it. It looks like a really excellent camera. Thinking of going to Calumet in the morning to check it out.

Re: Are there any posts on the Fuji S5?

Hey,
I've heard about the resolution not being as good even up against the D200. Any thoughts if you've had the chance to make some blow ups of your work up to 16x20?
Thanks -Angel

Don't know about that-where did you hear that out of curiosity?
See this article

Just got a S5 Pro and was really impressed with the quality of the images. Haven't had time to get any prints done yet but reckon they're going to be just fine.

I've got to also add...the quality in the highlight and shadow areas of the image are outstanding. Especially when using it on the 400% setting. It gives the same latitude as film almost and gives outstanding results over and over.

I'm looking forward to my next shoot with excitement!

Hey,
What can you say about sharpness and or resolution compared to say a D2X or D200? I know that glass will make a huge difference in the perception of the image out put, but very interested in this camera. TIA!
Angel

Re: Are there any posts on the Fuji S5?

The focussing mechanism doesn't feel as powerful and accurate as the D2X (when it's working correctly..as I've had previous problems with this but that's another story!) but it did a great job when I tested it in dim light as I was shooting people walking towards me in a church. I didn't really expect them all to be in focus but they were when I checked.

The thing that really swings it for me with the S5 is the feel it gives to your images...like going back to using film. The grain is very similar to film grain and is slight rather than blotchy with purple pixels like on the D2X using over 800 ASA. The skin tones are exactly 'as you see' them even using Auto white balance.

Tell you what-I recommend you go get one of these before there's a big back log as I can see them selling like hot cakes.

Maybe rent one out before you do just to be safe, but for me it's the best decision I've made in a long while.

Let me know how you get on.

Joe

Re: Are there any posts on the Fuji S5?

I bought a D200 before my S5 and sent it back, because the skin tones are terrible. The reason I stay with Fuji is because I shoot people and I know their skin will look like right. I am going to have to send one of my S5 bodies in for repair already. I keep getting a low battery reading no matter which od the three batteries I use. It may be the MB-200 grip that is causing the problem, I don't know. It is very frustrating because my other camera has no problems.
