Have any Kodak folks stuck around?

I was just wondering how many other Kodak camera users are still a part of these forums. Hopefully there's still a few of us around to keep this section running!

Re: Have any Kodak folks stuck around?

Hello:

I am still a strong supporter of Kodak. I've got a prime and back-up slr/n that I use daily in my commercial photo business. From people to industrial, corporate to architecture, they perform very well.
I'm not sure where all these people get all this money to buy and sell digital cameras and backs like they seem to do. I have at least another year of use before I would consider upgrading to anything at all.
I'm not a saint with the Kodak cameras though. I currently run tethered or untethered, use Photo Desk to process them but then switch to various programs for retouching and manipulation.
Besides Photoshop, I use NoiseNinja, Imagealign and ProPhotoZoom. My clients seem happy with the results and I think a lot of commercial photographers, like me, probably could remain happy with the slr/n's for some time to come.

Re: Have any Kodak folks stuck around?

I am still using Kodak cameras in the studio and for proms and military balls. However, I just bought a D2X and am planning to buy a D200 to move to Nikons. I sent in a 14NX under warranty and Kodak charged me $1200 stating the camera had impact damage. At the time, I was forced to go along with them as I needed the camera.

Another topic: Wouldn't Kodak be smart to sell their Photodesk program to other manufactureres or to owners of other cameras direct. I feel this is the best part of the Kodak DLSR series.

I agree that photodesk is one of the best programs I have ever used. Cs2 is catching up and very similar in a lot of aspects. I will see since I just purchased an H2 with a proback and havent got to use it in the studio yet. Im not sure I trust Kodak to do whats right, they seem to have a lack of respect for the Pro photographers who bought their equipment.

Re: Have any Kodak folks stuck around?

I have a dcs 520, 2-560 and a slr/c on it's way!
The workflow is what keeps me in yellow. I tried all the others and for what I do, studio, commercial & weddings, kodak PD works great!

Re: Have any Kodak folks stuck around?

I'm still here... my 14nx is easily the most prolific digital camera I've owned. I've learned to make it work well with just about any kind of subject. I have a 760 and 720x as well. I too am planning for "what comes next". I'm trying to make plans before I HAVE to make a switch. I'm still happy with my Kodak gear performance but I know that won't last too much longer. I'm leaning toward dumping a thirty year collection of Nikon glass and moving to Canon.

I agree that PhotoDesk / Camera Manager was one of the best things Kodak ever did. I still use Camera Manager almost daily but I rarely touch PhotoDesk any more. I still like... and sometimes slightly prefer its conversions... but the complete workflow, including DAM is sooooo much nicer and more efficient out of ACR/Bridge. I shoot with Camera Manager and watch the results via Bridge.

Re: Have any Kodak folks stuck around?

I'm using a ProBack plus on a 555ELD and a DCS760. I'll probably move to the D200 and Hasselblad digital back when my current Kodak gear gives out (end of next year).
