Re: Have any Kodak folks stuck around?

Hi, Dan,

Well, just for nostalgia's sake, let me mention that my first digital camera was a Kodak DC210.

Fixed-focus it was, for God's sake!

And it was upgraded to a DC210 Plus (several new and improved features) with a neat field firmware upgrade! (I'm a Canonite now, so that sort of thing is just a memory!)

One of our current major "small" cameras is our Kodak DC4800, a lovely machine.

Re: Have any Kodak folks stuck around?

Frank,

I couldn't agree more about the Kodak cameras and PD. I have three slr/c's and love them, they are workhorses. I use them for T&I type work and find pd fits my needs perfectly. I am not sure what I am going to switch to once these things die. RAW processing is a major part of my workflow. I also use a few Canon Rebel XT's and a 20D but think that the 5D would fit the bill nicely for the larger groups. Hopefully some Kodak engineers will still monitor this forum but it is hard to say where they all went with the amount of layoffs and repositioning at Kodak. Either way its nice to see other Kodak users here.

Re: Have any Kodak folks stuck around?

Hey, great! It's great to see a nice response. I've been using my SLR/n for over a year now. For all its quirks, I fell in love with its *results* from the first day. It was one of the first cameras whose images matched what I seeing through the lens. The dynamic range, the subtlety of tones and color. Sweet stuff.

Most of my work tends towards abstract macro images, so I'm studio based most of the time. I like Photodesk, but primarily use ACR now. ACR does a nice job with the Kodak files, and what it can't handle, I send through Silkypix.

Dan

I still have and occassionally use my DCS760 and a DCS520. They don't see daily use anymore but they are still fun to play with.

Re: Have any Kodak folks stuck around?

I'm committed with 2 SLR/n's and a 760. Looking to the future I have recently purchased a Nikon D2Hs. I'll continue to use the 760 for candid work until it's finished. I'm trying to find a conversion program that I will be satisfied with for the Nikon. I'm so comfortable with PD, that I find everything else awkward. So far I'm sticking with Capture as I feel that I'm getting the best results there. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Have any Kodak folks stuck around?

If you are shooting raw I have found CS2 as easy to use as Pd, batch conversions and renumbering are very similar, The bridge is almost a copy of PD in my opinon

Larry Letzer
From reading your post we are in the same boat equipment wise and share mutual feelings for PD. I know from your post that you are exploring the possibilities with Nikon jpegs and Nefs. Please keep us posted with your progress.l
