Help! 14nx thinks its shooting film

Ok... I turn on the trusty 14nx. Seems to boot as normal except the top LCD shows a flashing END instead of the normal settings. Also, the camera will not autofocus or make an exposure. I'm pretty sure the END is the indicator that the signifies the end of a roll of film on the "normal" version of this body. All of the menus on the back seem to work as normal. Camera manager sees the camera but can't fire it. I've reloaded firmware, removed both batteries and let it sit for a while, done full reset via the menus on the camera... no change. Any great ideas floating around out there for anything else I might try? I suppose I'll be calling Kodak tomorrow morning. Back to the trusty 760 in the meantime.

Re: Help! 14nx thinks its shooting film

I had something flaky like this happen once. I was using a cf card to transfer files between computers. If I recall, the 1G cf card was full. For some reason the camera didn't like this and wouldn't operate. I erased the card on the pc and put it back in and all was well. Strangely, I've done this before and was able to go in and format the card. In this case, it didn't work.

So you may want to check your cf card.

Bob, looks like you need a repair. The SLR body is not communicating with the digital electronics (which normally overide the film sensor). Your best bet is to call Kodak and arrange a repair.

Thanks... I promptly overnighted it to Rochester as soon as possible. Its in their hands now. I'll post a summary of how the problem is eventually resolved.
