Imager clean using power module

The recommended way of using the Imager Clean mode is to use the power module - failing that a fully charged battery. Generally I have used a fully charged battery and it is some time since I have used either the power module or a "Digital Camera Battery".

I was therefore rather suprised today to find that neither of my bodies would allow me to use either the DCB or the power module to initiate the "Imager Clean - Open" instead giving me a warning "Use fully charged battery for Imager cleaning". As they worked with earlier versions of firmware I can only assume that this is a glitch which has happened with one of the firmware upgrades.

Please, has as anyone else come across this problem or have any suggestions as to the cause of this problem.

Many thanks

Re: Imager clean using power module

Mike,

I think it was changed at 5.1.2 and seemed to relate to a change with "Longer" exp - I've never been able to get a straight answer as to whether it was deliberate or a by product !! I did a quick search and found this forum search I also recall a kodak person pointing out that they had changed the setup but I don't remember why, this also talks of the same issue second archive link

I'm not sure if its good or bad - at least you can clean without mains power which is great for location shooters !

Re: Imager clean using power module

Chris
Thanks for reminding me about that - I had dim memory about problems with "Longer Exposure" but had forgotten about the Imager Clean problem. Obviously has it has not been fixed before now it will be just another one of those Kodak quirks we'll have to live with. It was totally maddening as I had three drained batteries and a huge lump of dust on the imager and although I could continue to shoot using the power module I could not clean off the dirt so have about 50 files all of which need to be cleaned.

Anyhow thanks for your reminder.
