Zeiss or Leica Lenses on SLRn

I see everyone on the Canon forum is using German glass on there Canon cameras. It's a shame you can't use all that highend electronics. So, I was wondering if the German glass would work on the SLRn. The images are sharp enough for me using Nikon glass, but I was wondering how good the images would be with a Leica or Zeiss lens. Anyone try this combo and if so, what adaptor did you use?

Thanks in advance.

Paul

Re: Zeiss or Leica Lenses on SLRn

You are out of luck, using any other lenses other then Nikon mount. The reason all other lenses could be mounted on a Canon, using a adapter is that the focuses distant on a Canon is shorter then all other 35mm cameras. Other words, the Nikon and the Leica lenses have the same focus distant. That why you do not hear about it in the Nikon world. If you have a SLRc, then you would be able to.

Paul.
There are adapters for nikon mount.

I have a Kenko lens adapter which allows me to use a Hasselblad lens on a nikon body.
You loose AF and auto metering, but manual focusing and the stop down metering method work fine.

I haven't used it on the slr/n yet, but on my F4, the image quality was great.
Better than the Nikkor glass. Just not as convenient when shooting action.

You can find them on ebay. Some stores might have one sitting in a drawer.

Zoerk also make a mount for Nikon for most of their adatpers like the PSA or tilt shift.

This requires you to use medium format glass i.e. Mamiya, Hassi, Pentax 645/67 etc.

Looks like you can also use the Leica M glass on the Nikon F mount.
