WA cards

I know the SLR/n is capable of utilizing the Write Acceleration capability of cards. I am currently using Lexar WA 40x cards with good times and success. What I was wondering is if using the new Lexar 80x cards would improve write times? I am not sure if simply being WA capable will cause an increase of write speed with 80x or if a camera has a certain limit it can process and load the card.

FWIT. My SLRn, with the LCD turned off, shows 4.4 MB/sec write speed(according to the internal speed test)using a 2G 40x WA Lexar.

A few weeks back, I had called Kodak about something else and also asked them about my write speed of 4.4 MB on a CF card Lexar rates as 6 MB/sec. Kodak told me that their records show the 40x card's write speed at 4.5MB/sec and not the 6MB. Would the 80x improve on the write speed if you need it. Probably so but to what degree and speed, who knows?

Have you checked you write speed on your SLRn?

Thanks so much. I completely forgot I could check the wite speed on the camera.
I checked it and mine too was 4.4.
I would guess the 80x probably wouldn't change things much.

While I'm no expert in this area, I would guess that with Lexar's 80X card, you are looking at a 8.8MB/sec 'write speed' vs our present 4.4MB/sec on a 40X CF. If doubleing the write speed is important or the increase provides an advantage in a particular shooting situation, then it's worth the price. I guess that's up to the individual.
