David, You could save a bit by buying a 14n and getting fixation to upgrade the sensor for £925.
I bought a 14n, intending to use it for schools, but it's a lot slower than my S2, and JPEGs from the S2 need very little work straight from the camera wheras you really have to shoot raw files with the Kodak.
The 14n can't cope with highlights (at least mine can't and Kodak tech support seem to have given up on it - no reply to my last two e-mails with samples of the problems). Problems occur with purple highlights in hair if using a hairlight. The red channel blooms even at moderate levels, causing a pinkish / magenta halo on anything bordering a highlight - especially near the edge of a frame. I took a class group of girls last week, and there is even bloom where their kneesocks meet the skintones.

I still can't get a definitive answer on whether the upgrade / SLRn fixes this.
